Massage Therapy
Through injuries from a physicaly oriented life, I have learned that to heal the body completely, there MUST to be body work. It not only helps let go of tension and pain, but also helps us know what kind of movement/training to pair with massage therapy to complement the healing journey.
Movement
Our bodies are meant for the hunting and gathering lifestyle, and that's how I approach training. We start with a foundation of understanding the breath. Then we work on rolling, crawling, getting up, and walking. These forgotten basics serve help to recondition the body out of dysfunctional movement patterns. Core strength, coordination, joint resilience and flexibility is regained. This leads us to incorporate more complex movement patterns such as running, jumping, lifting, climbing, and throwing. Basic body weight exercises are cycled for focused strength, or muscle building. All training is tailored to the client.
Diet
What are our roots? What are we meant to eat to be healthy? Low fat cottage cheese, meatless salads, and protein bars? And how often? Everyday, 3 times a day with snacks? Far from it. We did not thrive in such environments. What we eat should not by hyper restricted, counted, and logged. There is a way to eat that is fulfilling and aligned with our biology that has always worked. It may come as a surprise to some that my approach includes plenty of meat and fat, and variety of plant foods. There are many strategies depending on goals, and its my job to find the right one for yours.
Fasting/Fasted Trek
Fasting is integral with a healthy life. As humans, it is unnatural to eat routinely. That is the way of livestock. To break from this routine and optimize not just your physical/mental health, but also your spiritual health, some fasting is necessary. For those looking for a deeper journey into healing and reawakening our connection to nature, I offer a fasted trek. This is hike into the backcountry without food and only the bare essentials, with a small group, guided and facilitated by me.
